Minolta is one of the earliest producers of Camera’s in world. Although its beginnings were quite humble, minolta managed to produce some of the best technical cameras in the world.

Inarguably the most innovative camera-maker, Minolta stamped its mark on the American photographic scenes from the 1950’s to the 1980’s. After the introduction of compact cameras using the 35mm film, Minolta struck a deal with the inventors of 35mm film, Leica, to use their technology. In 1976 Minolta product Leica R3 working with the original manufacturers. Later on Minolta 35mm camera would also include Leica R3, R4 and R5 models.

Minolta introduced its SR-2 single lens reflex (SLR) 35mm camera in 1958. This camera was outfitted with a bayonet mount and instant return mirror. This design was widely regarded a success because of greater tolerance between its working parts, although these weren’t completely weather proof.

Another success from Minolta was the SR-T 101. Another 35mm, this SLR was launched in the late 1960s. It was so successful that it stayed in production for 10 years before going out. This of course reinforces everyone’s beliefs that Minolta cameras are the result of thorough research and efforts. This is still considered the best tool for professional photography.

Another breakthrough occurred in 1981 at the introduction of the CLE, which was the worlds first 35mm rangemeter linked TTl-AE camera. In the History of Minolta 35mm cameras the CLE or Compact Leica Electronic holds a special place. Even more than 20 years onwards, its enthusiasts trust it with their photographic tasks. Minolta introduced the CLE as the world's first 35mm range meter linked TTL-AE camera. In the history of Minolta 35mm camera, the CLE or Compact Leica Electronic cameras are special also because they were extremely easy to carry around or shoot with one hand. The dream of safely portable camera was being realized!
