Minolta Maxxum 5: Capturing Every Movement, Every second!

After the smashing success of Maxxum 7000, Minolta Corporation introduced a more compact and easy to use version of the camera. The Minolta Maxxum 5 was a light weight, feature packed 35mm Single-Lens Reflex (SLR) camera. Maxxum 7000’s groundbreaking technologies were fully exploited in this new version of Minolta cameras. It incorporated advanced Auto focus technology, powerful film drive, fast shutter speed and many custom functions only available in top of the line professional cameras of the time.

Minolta Maxxum 5 proved to be a runaway success as it became popular in amateur as well as advanced photographers. The fast shutter speeds and 14 custom functions were also well fitted into the small and light SLR camera body.

Maxxum 5 proved ideal for amateur photographers. Even though it was jam packed with amazing Minolta Maxxum 7000 like features, it still remained simple enough for amateur use. And with so many automatic functions, it practically does all the work for the photographer!

Whether your subject is at rest or in motion, if you are using a Maxxum 5, rest assured that the end result will be perfect. The fast Auto focus speed and Eye-start automation ensure great focusing. It also adopted a clear bright LCD screen from its heavy weight version. The brilliant LCD display featured a 7 point AF system; it could even indicate the point of focus in one of seven local focus areas to confirm that the desired object is indeed in focus. This was never a feature in other cameras of this class! The Maxxum 5 focusing screen also featured a sphere-shaped matte surface usually found in higher-end 35mm SLR models.

For novices and professionals alike, another important feature of the Minolta Maxxum 5 is the lock protection option of the film chamber. Once the film is loaded, the back cover couldn’t be re opened until the film was completely rewound. So there was no chance of any accidental ruining of the film. The control layout is easy enough for novice photographers. Commonly used functions were located near the grip in the form of convenient push buttons. More advanced functions were located to the left on a function dial. Three autofocus and four exposure modes, bracketing, multiple exposure, wireless/remote off-camera flash, and 14 custom functions can be set with the function dial.

The Minolta Maxxum 5 features a fast advance speed of up to 3 frames per second. And with the fastest AF Focus speed in its class it ensures that you miss nothing!
